(Fox 25/MyFoxBoston.com) - A professor from a New Jersey university faces 40-counts of promoting prostitution after he was arrested by police in New Mexico.

Dr. David Flory was arrested in Albuquerque on Sunday and was in court yesterday.

Police say the physics professor, from Farleigh Dickenson University, had been running a prostitution site out of his Manhattan apartment. The website used girls primarily from the southwest.

Investigators say it was a very sophisticated operation.

Police say there are 1,400 people involved in the website. 200 are prostitutes and the other 1,200 are male members
