FALL RIVER - A Pennsylvania woman has been sentenced to four to seven years in prison for kidnapping her 13-month-old niece in Massachusetts and abandoning the child in Connecticut.
Kimberly Johnson was also sentenced Thursday in Fall River Superior Court to 10 years of probation upon release and ordered to stay away from the victim and her family.
Prosecutors say the 39-year-old Altoona, Pa. woman, who also goes by Alyssa Dawn Johnson, kidnapped the baby in February 2010.
The child was found unharmed a few hours later in Middletown, Conn.
Authorities say Johnson wanted to tell a former boyfriend that the baby was his to rekindle their relationship.
Prosecutors had asked for a seven to 10-year sentence.
Her lawyer says she is taking multiple medications and requested the lighter sentence.
