SPRINGFIELD - State police say a man wanted in connection with a fatal shooting in upstate New York has been caught in Massachusetts.
Authorities say Emilier Carrasquillo-Fuentes was apprehended by members of a task force of federal, state and local law enforcement agencies without incident in Springfield just after 6 a.m. on Wednesday.
Carrasquillo-Fuentes is a suspect in a double shooting at a Syracuse, N.Y. gas station parking lot last August. One victim died.
Police believe the suspect has attempted to evade capture by changing his appearance and moving frequently. Police say about two months ago authorities learned of possible ties to Massachusetts and began an investigation.
He is scheduled to be arraigned on a fugitive from justice charge on Wednesday. It was not clear if he had a lawyer.
