(FOX 25 /MyFoxBoston.com) - According to a story in the Montreal Gazzett, the FBI has sent warning that one of Boston's most infamous gangsters may be Victoria, BC Canada looking for a new book.
Apparently Whitey Bulger is not only one of the FBI’s 10 most wanted criminals, but he also loves history books.
Two bookstores in Victoria were notified by police that the FBI wanted the bookstore employees to keep an eye out for Bulger.
Jim Munro, owner of Munro's Books said "Apparently, he's quite a book lover and he's interested in history."
FBI spokesman Michael McNamara said authorities were just circulating wanted posters of the 80-year-old Bulger and his girlfriend, 59-year-old Catherine Greig around the city. He said the agency had no specific information if they were in the area.
McNamara said the posters are part of an ongoing worldwide campaign to locate the notorious South Boston gangster who fled just before he was indicted on federal racketeering charges in January 1995.
Bulger, a former FBI informant, is charged in connection with 19 murders and is on the FBI's "Ten Most Wanted" list with a $2 million reward for information leading to his arrest.
The last confirmed Bulger sighting was in London in 2002.
