NORTH ATTLEBORO (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston) - Police say a woman's granddaughter was among two suspects arrested yesterday after a burglar broke into the 78-year-old home, assaulted her and fled with jewelry.
Rachelle O'Handley, 23, of Milford, and Katherine German, 22, of Cumberland, R.I., were arrested after their car was stopped in Cumberland, the Sun Chronicle reports. O'Handley is a granddaughter of the victim. Both face charges of breaking and entering and larceny.
The home invasion occurred around 2 p.m. at the woman¿s Hoppin Hill Road home, the Sun Chronicle reports.
The elderly woman told police that although the assailant was a man, a young woman had knocked on her door and asked for directions shortly before the incident.
During the home invasion, police tell the newspaper the victim was pushed and a phone was also knocked out of her hand.
Police recovered jewelry and clothing during a search in the woods near the victim¿s home.
