Police say an armed man wearing a ski mask broke into a Norfolk home and stolen a woman’s purse while she was in the kitchen with her baby.

Police received the call at about 7 p.m. on Saturday for an armed home invasion.

The victim told police she was in the kitchen with the infant when a man entered the home and brandished a small, black handgun. He demanded her purse. There was a short struggle and then he fled the home.

He was described as about 6 feet tall, most likely a white man in his early 20s. He was wearing a black hooded jacket with red trim and dark sweatpants, Timberland-style work boots, and black gloves.

Police searched the area with the assistance of a State Police helicopter. The K9 unit followed tracks and a scent through a wooded area to Marshall Street, where the track ended.

Anyone with information is asked to call Norfolk police at 508-528-3206.
