Christmas decorations already on shelves

NEW YORK - Retailers have already begun stocking shelves with Santa Claus ornaments and showman wrapping paper, even though Thanksgiving has not yet arrived.

And some are not ready for to shop for Christmas decorations just yet.

“It’s 76 degrees out and I’m looking at Christmas bells,” shopper C.J. Holm told the New York Daily News while browsing at a New York Target store. “I’m not in the mood yet.”

One expert says even though stores are scrambling to get a jump on Christmas after weak back-to-school sales.
"It's much earlier this year. It's a sign of the times. It's desperation," Howard Davidowitz, retail expert at Davidowitz & Associates in New York, told the New York Daily News.
Kmart kicked off the holiday season last week.
