(FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - Maryellen Brisbois grew up loving the color pink, as most little girls do. But in 2006 her perspective of "pink" changed when she found it representing an unexpected breast cancer diagnosis.

She was overwhelmed by a sea of pink ribbons. During her seven month process of chemotherapy, surgery and radiation, she began writing a book fitting for her emotions, "Why I Hated Pink."

Brisbois now embraces pink. Her book is a memoir that she hopes opens the door for other breast cancer survivors to tell their story.
