BOSTON -
The Boston Bruins have acquired Boston native Jimmy Hayes from the Florida Panthers in exchange for Reilly Smith and the right to Marc Savard.
Hayes, who played at Boston College from 2008-2011, has played with the Blackhawks and Panthers in the National Hockey League over the course of a four-year professional career. In 72 games last year, he scored 19 goals while tallying 16 assists for Florida.
Hayes scored a goal in the Panthers 4-2 win over Boston in the final week of the 2015 regular season.
Savard has not played with the Bruins since 2011 due to post-concussion symptoms, but is signed through the upcoming season for $4.2 million.
In two seasons with the Bruins, Smith scored 33 goals and had 58 assists.
