BALTIMORE, Md. -
A day after fouling a pitch off his knee, Hanley Ramirez will play for the Red Sox, while his teammate David Ortiz will sit on the bench with a lefty opposing Boston on the mound.
Ramirez finished his third inning at-bat Tuesday night after a ball ricocheted off his bat directly onto his kneecap. After earning a walk, Ramirez was pulled for a pinch-runner.
Ortiz went 1-4 Tuesday night with a strikeout and is now hitting .219 for the season. With Baltimore starting Wei-Yin chen tonight, Ortiz will start the game on the bench. Ortiz is batting .114 against left-handed pitching this year.
