SALEM, NH (
MyFoxBoston.com) -- A man was arrested after police say he slashed a victim in the abdomen over a painting job.
Officers responded to a home on Haverhill Road just before 11 p.m. on Saturday after hearing reports of a burglary and assault.
The victim said that he confronted 38-year-old David R. Konze when the suspect first entered the kitchen. The victim said that Konze began assaulting him and eventually got out a knife, slashing a nearly six-inch laceration into the victim's abdomen.
After the flight, Konze allegedly fled into the woods.
While waiting for the K-9 team to arrive, an officer said he heard loud stomping in the woods, which led officials to Konze.
Konze was arrested and charged with burglary, assault, criminal threatening and falsifying physical evidence.
Officials say that the suspect and Konze had known each other before the incident and had been arguing over a painting job the victim had been hired to complete.
