Olynyk suspended one game for incident with Love

Posted: Updated:

Celtics forward Kelly Olynyk has been suspended for one game in the 2015-16 season for his role in a play that injured Cavaliers forward Kevin Love.

Love tore a ligament in his left shoulder and suffered bruising after his arm got locked up with Olynyk as the two players were battling for the ball in the first half of Sunday's Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals.

Love was quoted after the game saying he felt the play was "bush-league" by Olynyk and he trusted the NBA would hand out appropriate punishment.

Olynyk told the Boston Herald, "“That's ridiculous. I would never intentionally hurt Kevin or anyone else. He locked my arm up, I locked up his as we were fighting for a loose ball. You lock up arms all the time in this league.”

Cavaliers forward JR Smith was suspended two games for striking Celtics forward Jae Crowder in the face with the back of his fist.
