NORTH ADAMS, Mass. (AP) - A North Adams woman and her high school student son are facing charges for allegedly running a heroin distribution ring from their apartment.
The
Berkshire Eagle reports that Glendaliz Rios was held on $35,000 after pleading not guilty Tuesday in Northern Berkshire District Court on to causing a minor to distribute a drug, being present where heroin is kept, and conspiracy to violate drug laws with a minor.
Police say the 32-year-old Rios and her 16-year-old son, a student at Drury High School, were arrested Monday after a raid on their apartment turned up 650 bags of heroin, more than $16,000 in cash, and two unlicensed handguns. Authorities allege the heroin was kept in a shoe box in a closet of the teen's bedroom.
Rios' attorney could not be reached.
