Woman finds 50 pearls in restaurant oyster

Posted: Updated:

FRANKLIN, Tenn. (MyFoxBoston.com)  — What appeared to be the start of a toothache for one woman at a seafood restaurant ended up being the sweet opposite.

Toni Elliot alerted her server when she felt something hard after biting into an oyster at Puckett's Boat House restaurant. When restaurant manager Greg Hargest arrived at the table, Elliot realized she had actually bitten into a pearl.

Elliot extracted not one but multiple oysters from her mouth to a laughter from her table, Hargest said. There were more baby pearls in the oyster.

"We've had cases where someone might find one pearl, but this is the first time someone's found 50," Hargest told ABC News.

The restaurant cleaned the pearls and gave Elliot a cup to take them home in.

"It was her oyster, so they're her pearls," Hergest said.

An attempt to reach Elliot has been unsuccessful so far.

It is unclear how much the pearls are worth.

The restaurant gets its oysters from the Gulf of Mexico, the manager said.
