HARTFORD, CT (
MyFoxBoston.com) -- Connecticut Gov. Dannel P. Malloy declared a public health emergency on Tuesday, granting the Commissioner of the Department of Heath the authority to quarantine and isolate any individual or group believed to have been exposed to Ebola.
The governor said in a statement that the order is a precautionary measure and that no specific case has been identified in the state to date.
“We are taking this action today to ensure that we are prepared, in advance, to deal with any identified cases in which someone has been exposed to the virus or, worst case, infected,” said Gov. Malloy.
Without the declaration, there is no statewide ability to isolate or quarantine possible cases, and authority would rest instead with individual local health directors.
