If you're a night owl or early riser, you will get a chance to see another total eclipse of the moon for 2014. The action gets started late Tuesday or early Wednesday, depending on your point of view. Speaking of point of view, we here in in the Upper Midwest will get another great view of the “Blood Moon” as it is completely darkened by the shadow of the Earth.
Here is a timeline of the events EARLY on the morning of Wednesday October 8, 2014.
3:17 AM: PENUMBRAL ECLIPSE BEGINS: This is hardly noticeable but it is when the moon starts to enter the outer shadow created by the earth but is still reflecting enough sunlight to appear as a full moon.
4:18 AM: PARTIAL ECLIPSE BEGINS:The moon starts to red.
5:27 AM: BEGIN TOTALITY: The moon is completely red.
5:55 AM: MAXIMUM ECLIPSE: The moon is in the center most portion of the Earth's shadow.
6:22 AM: TOTALITY ENDS: The Moon slowly returns to normal reflection of sunlight.
The good thing about this particular eclipse is that it will not only be visible to all of North America, but it will also be visible to those of us on that Monday-Friday early morning grind of work and school.
