Black bear snacks on bird seed in Athol yard - Boston News, Weather, Sports | FOX 25 | MyFoxBoston

ATHOL, Mass. (MyFoxBoston.com) -- An Athol resident was surprised to find a black bear lounging by her pool Thursday.

The bear appeared to be snacking on a bird seed from a feeder that was laying beside him on the ground in a backyard on South Athol Road at about 6 a.m.

The homeowner tells FOX 25 the bear is a "semi-regular" visitor to the yard. She says she has tried to take the bird feeders in at night, but that shes sometimes misses a night or two.

Wildlife officials often warn homeowners to take down bird feeders and bring in garbage when bears are spotted in the area.
