Cell phone spyware

It's scary and, unfortunately, easy to do. Cell phone bugging is a real possibility.

As your smart phone gets 'smarter', it becomes more vulnerable to hackers.  Robert Siciliano, CEO of I DTheftSecurity.com , tells us that a degree in espionage is not required to electronically stalk someone.  It can take as little as 10 minutes to take control of a phone.  The software can easily be found on the internet for less than $15.

When SpyWare is installed you can monitor nearly everything on that person's phone.  Everytime the user sends or recieves a call, texts or e-mails, the person who installed the SpyWare is alerted.  They can also listen to the call. 

Some SpyWare can even activate the phone's camera, capturing your every move.

Chris Wysopal is the founder of Burlington based software security company Veracode .  He says professional hackers are moving from computers to phones.

It's hard to tell if you're phone has been bugged.  Some signs include:

• Sudden drops in battery life.
• Ambient noise in the background of a phone call.
• Strange text messages from unfamiliar numbers.
