Teen allegedly brings replica handgun to school
Updated:
Police arrested a juvenile after he allegedly brought a replica firearm to his school.
Friday morning police responded to Dorchester Collegiate Academy for a report that a person had a gun at the school.
Staff told officers that several students reported seeing another classmate with a gun in the bathroom. Police recovered what appeared to be a black handgun from the toilet tank; further investigation revealed it was actually a .177 caliber paintball gun, though it didn't have the federally required orange tip identifying it as a paintball gun.
Police took the boy into custody, who allegedly indicated he had brought the replica gun school. Police said the teen expressed remorse for his actions.
The boy was arrested and charged with delinquent to wit; possession of a firearm on school grounds, assault by means of a dangerous weapon (firearm), and intimidation of a witness.
