WEYMOUTH, Mass. —

A teenager is dead after four people were rushed to the hospital following a serious crash in Weymouth late Saturday night.

"It's tough. I mean, going to school tomorrow is going to be hard," said Cam Powers, a friend and classmate.

The crash happened on Union Street when an SUV apparently crashed into a telephone pole, snapping it in two, before running across a lawn nearby.

The car was full of teenagers from Archbishop Williams High School in Braintree. Two people were thrown from the vehicle and all four passengers were taken to the hospital. Fifteen-year-old Kate McCarthy of Weymouth died due to her injuries.

Boston Firefighter Adalberto Rodrigues was one of the first on scene; the car went into his lawn. He and a neighbor heard the loud impact and ran out to help.

"There was a young lady here with head trauma. And we started assessing her and working on her," he said.

Despite their efforts, Kate died at a local hospital. Police said evidence suggests she was ejected.

"She always had a smile on her face. She always knew how to put a smile on other people's faces," said a classmate and friend.

"It's going to be a process, where there's going to be a lot of prayer... a lot of coming together," said Dr. Michael Volonnino, principal of Archbishop Williams High School.

Friends told FOX25 that the other girl  in the vehicle is still being treated at the hospital and two boys suffered less serious injuries. The crash remains under investigation.
