BOSTON (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - A New England fugitive’s world is about to get much smaller once digital billboards begin popping up along major roadways.
John Joseph Hartin was featured on the FOX 25 News segment, "New England’s Unsolved” on Saturday. Shortly after his picture was shown, the Feds got a few tips. The FBI is hoping a billboard campaign will help them capture him.
Hartin is a Boston native wanted for allegedly abusing two young boys in the Boston area in 1993. He has been a fugitive wanted throughout the U.S. since 1997. Hartin is facing five counts of statutory rape of a child in Massachusetts.
The Feds have an outstanding warrant for unlawful flight to avoid prosecution against Hartin and now they’re increasing their efforts to capture him. They are offering a $25,000 reward for information leading to his arrest.
FBI agents believe Hartin has family and friends in central Florida and in California. They tell FOX 25 digital billboards will be showing up in New England, Florida, and California.
