WEST DENNIS (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - Police are stepping up their investigations of a series of arson fires on the Cape by offering thousands of dollars as a reward for information.
Officials say two fires have been deliberately set in less than a week in one West Dennis neighborhood.
One home on Church Street and another on nearby Aunt Julia’s Road suffered thousands of dollars in damage after the fires.
FOX 25 visited both scenes on Saturday. A sign on the Church Street home deemed the structure unsafe due to the fire. Where there once was a barn, there is now an empty lot at 16 Aunt Julia’s Road.
Dennis residents shared their concern over the fires on Saturday morning. One business owner says he is concerned about the direction the town has been going in over the past few years.
Another resident called two fires in such a short amount of time “spooky” and says the fires also make him concerned about budget cuts and losing emergency responders who keep the town safe.
Town officials are offering up to $5,000 for information leading to an arrest in the arson fires.
