WORCESTER - The retrial of a Webster man accused of killing two people and injuring a third during a home invasion in Dudley is under way.
Opening statements in the trial of Christian Muller are scheduled for Friday in Worcester Superior Court. He faces charges including two counts of murder.
Prosecutors say Muller was one of two men involved in the July 2007 home invasion that left Aaron Bash and Denise Johnston dead, and Bash's sister, Joanne Mercier with gunshot wounds to the head.
The Telegram & Gazette reports that Muller, the alleged triggerman, plans an insanity defense. His lawyer says his client has a history of mental illness. His first trial ended when his lawyer fell ill. The other man is serving a prison term after pleading guilty to manslaughter.
