(FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - The trial for a Salem mother accused of withholding her son's cancer medication will begin today.

Kristin LaBrie is accused of repeatedly failing to fill prescriptions for her 9-year-old son, Jeremy.

The boy, who was also autistic, was diagnosed with non-hodgkin's lymphoma in 2006, which went into remission.

Prosecutors say LaBrie never picked up her son's medication, causing his cancer to come back as leukemia in 2008.

Jeremy died in 2009. He spent his last months alive with his father, Eric Fraser, who was killed in a motorcycle crash in Malden just seven months after his son's death

LaBrie has pleaded not guilty.
