ORLEANS (AP) - A Taunton man facing charges in connection with the death of his domestic partner at a Cape Cod campground has been ordered held on $50,000 bail.

A judge ordered James Costello held during a hearing Tuesday in Orleans District Court. The 45-year-old Costello has pleaded not guilty to charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (shod foot), and assault and battery on a family or household member in connection with the death of David Walton

Walton was found dead April 3 outside the office at the Coastal Acres campground in Provincetown by police. Costello was asleep next to him.

The Cape Cod Times reports that Costello's lawyer said a judge has rejected prosecutors' request for Costello to undergo a competency hearing.

The men lived together in Taunton.
