YARMOUTH (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - Police have made an arrest in an attempted armed robbery at a South Yarmouth Stop and Shop supermarket.
The robbery attempt happened Friday at 9:15 p.m. at the Long Pond Drive supermarket.
Police say a woman took money out of the ATM machine inside the supermarket and was followed down one of the shopping aisles by a male suspect.
The suspect placed a handgun in her stomach and demanded cash. The woman refused by pushing the gun away and the suspect fled the scene.
Police arrested Shannon T. Issler, 34, of Cumberland, R.I., who they say was caught on surveillance camera.
Issler was charged with felony assault with attempt to rob. Police said that during a videotaped interview with police, the suspect admitted to his involvement and stated that the gun involved was an air soft pistol.
