WOBURN (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - He is out of the hospital, but today local officials are still on the hunt looking for whoever is responsible for a robbery that ended with the shooting a Woburn police officer.
Police are still trying to find up to three other people, who investigators say tried to rob a jewelry store before opening fire on Woburn Police Officer, Robert DeNapoli.
One suspect was shot at the scene. He is still in the hospital, awaiting arraignment. That suspect was identified last week as 25-year-old Antonio Matos, of Boston. Authorities weren't able to identify him until a relative came forward after photos of Matos' tattoos were made public.
On Friday, police found a car in Jamaica Plain allegedly connected to the robbery.
This weekend, Officer DeNapoli made an appearance at a charity softball tournament. He walked into the game to a standing ovation Saturday. It was his first public appearance since getting out of the hospital.
Officer DeNapoli had bandages near his eye and on his leg and a brace on his other leg, but a big smile on his face.
Officers at the game said it was very uplifting to see him up and about.
