Clerk shot in head in Fitchburg

FITCHBURG (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - A store clerk is in grave condition after being shot in the head Wednesday night in Fitchburg.

The victim, 40-year-old Scott E. Person, of Ashby, had just finished his shift working at JV's Variety Store at 128 Fairmount St., according to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.

Person was taken to Health Alliance Hospital in Leominster, where he remains in grave condition.

Police responded to the Fairmont Street store at about 11:20 p.m. after receiving a 911 call.

Investigators are searching for several suspects. State Police Detectives assigned to Worcester County District Attorney's Office and Fitchburg Police are investigating.
