WORCESTER (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - A Shrewsbury man implicated in an international child pornography investigation has been sentenced to the maximum term of 10 years in prison.

David Ladeau was arrested in 2009 by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement shortly after he was sentenced to probation in Westborough District Court for molesting a 12-year-old boy.

Ladeau was the organist and choir director of a local church.

The Telegram & Gazette reports that the 55-year-old Ladeau was given the maximum sentence for child pornography possession by a judge who said protecting the public was more important than taking into account Ladeau's own abuse as a child.

Ladeau apologized in court "for the people I hurt." His lawyer said his client suffered from mental illness and was under the control of his abusive older brother.
