Lynn prostitution house busted

LYNN (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - Police in Lynn raided a Lynn apartment and arrested a man accused of running a house of prostitution.

Police stormed the first-floor apartment of 70 Rockaway St. around 10 p.m. Tuesday night and arrested 33-year-old Elmer Canizales, of Lynn, The Daily Item reported.

Canizales was charged with deriving support from prostitution and maintaining a house of prostitution. He was arraigned Wednesday in Lynn District Court and ordered held in lieu of $1,000 cash bail. A pre-trial hearing has been scheduled for Aug. 24.

Police are also in the process of summonsing two alleged prostitutes, one from Mexico, the other from Costa Rica, who were removed from the apartment.

The ring leaders of the operation are believed to be Columbian with ties to East Boston, the Daily Item reports.

Police seized two cell phones from Canizales, $130 in cash from the two women, seven poker chips, and $342 in cash.
