HYANNIS (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - A woman is under arrest and her boyfriend is still being sought by authorities after the attempted shooting of a man in Hyannis.
Barnstable Police responded to a home on Hiramar Road on Thursday night after receiving reports of shots being fired. When they arrived at the scene, several witnesses told them they had seen two people run out of the back of 20 Hiramar Road.
Police were able to identify 31-year-old William Hayes and 29-year-old Teisa Lopez as persons of interest in the shooting after witnesses say they saw the pair speed off from the scene in Lopez’s minivan.
Investigators located the intended target of the shooting who said that he got into a fight with Hayes outside of the residence. That is when Hayes allegedly pointed a gun at him and began the shoot. The victim was able to run away unharmed.
During their investigation on Hiramar Road, Lopez entered the back of the home again and was startled at the police presence inside the home. She denied being present during the shooting, but was placed under arrest and charged with obstruction of justice and accessory after the fact of an armed assault with intent to murder.
Police also obtained a search warrant for the home. While executing the warrant, police recovered drug distribution paraphernalia, cocaine, and seven grams of heroin. As a result of the findings, Lopez was charged with possession with intent to distribute heroin and cocaine. She was arraigned on Friday and held on $10,000 cash bail.
Authorities are still looking for William Hayes. He will be charged with armed assault with intent to murder, illegal possession of firearm, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of dwelling, possession of cocaine and heroin with intent to distribute.
Hayes and Lopez were known to police prior to this incident. Lopez is currently facing a counterfeiting charge. According to police, Hayes has a previous conviction for distribution of narcotics.
