BOSTON (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - A Dorchester man was convicted of second-degree murder on Tuesday in the stabbing death of 24-year-old Gregory Phillips.
The Suffolk District Attorney’s office tells FOX 25 a Suffolk Superior Court jury convicted Corey Patterson of second-degree murder and three counts of assault and battery on a public employee in the November 2009 death of the 24-year-old West Roxbury man.
Phillips was killed after a friend became involved in a fist fight in Boston. Investigators allege that Patterson threw the first punch in the fight after he made a rude comment to a female friend of Phillips.
Patterson’s three counts of assault and battery stem from his alleged kicking and hitting of arresting officers after he returned to the scene of the crime for what they claim were his attempts at retrieving the murder weapon.
