WORCESTER (FOX25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - A husband and wife have been found guilty of stealing more than $200,000 by staging a robbery at the Worcester credit union where the woman worked.
George Labadie and Susan Carcieri are scheduled to be sentenced next Monday after being found guilty in Worcester Superior Court yesterday.
Prosecutors say in August 2002 the couple staged a robbery at the Wyman-Gordon Federal Credit Union where the 59-year-old Carcieri worked as an office manager. The 51-year-old Labadie was also convicted of counterfeiting. Large amounts of cash were later found in their home.
Authorities say the couple stole the money because they faced financial difficulties.
The Telegram & Gazette reports that the couple maintained their innocence and said they kept large sums of cash in their home.
