BOSTON (FOX25, myfoxboston) - A 14-year-old boy was shot multiple times and killed in Boston's Roslindale neighborhood on Wednesday afternoon, police said.
Officers responded to the area of 619 Cummins Highway to find Deyquan Gomez, of Mattapan, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was taken to Brigham & Women's Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
"He was an amazing kid for the reason that at 14, at such a young age, he had realized the mistakes he had made, ann paths that he may have went down, and was trying to better himself," said teacher Karimah Williams.
Police are investigating and did not say whether they had any suspects.
Police say Gomez was shot while walking down Cummins Highway with a friend. The Boston Herald says witnesses rushed to the boy's side, but couldn't save him.
Two teens were killed in separate shootings on Cummins Highway in 2006. Those shootings are still unsolved.
Police said this was the fifth homicide of 2010.
