(FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - A Massachusetts man accused of killing and robbing a Maine homeowner and using stolen goods to get drugs will remain behind bars pending a bail hearing.
David Silva Jr., 32, was in tears during his initial appearance Monday in Kennebec County Superior Court. He waived extradition Friday after his arrest in Carver, Mass.
He's accused of shooting 53-year-old Robert Orr and then setting fire to the home in Readfield. Silva's girlfriend told police that he used stolen goods including jewelry to get heroin.
The Kennebec Journal says Orr's family issued a statement. In it his widow, Janet Orr, said "They took my soul mate of 20 years."
Silva is charged with murder, arson and robbery. Silva's court-appointed lawyer, William Baghdoyan, said he'd be prepared for a bail hearing next week.
