BOSTON (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - The price of a gallon of gas in Massachusetts has soared 10 cents in the past week as increased global demand and a weaker dollar combined to drive up worldwide oil prices.

AAA Southern New England reports today that the cost of a gallon of self-serve, regular has risen to an average of $2.73, up a dime from last week and 14 cents in the last two weeks.

The current price in Massachusetts is eight cents below the national average but 30 cents more than at the same last year.

AAA found self-serve, regular as low as $2.53 and as high as $2.89 per gallon.
