Beer Bloggles: Beer and Wine Hobby, Woburn

The American Homebrewers Association estimates there are now close to one million homebrewers here in the United States. I have recently joined that number. To do so, first, I needed to take a brewing class. Then, I needed to find a place that carried all the supplies necessary to make my beer. When he was 21, the company’s owner, Gennaro Cataldo received his first home brewing kit. Right from the start, he absolutely loved it.

"It's a hobby. It's a craft. It's a passion," says Cataldo. He also made wine with his father and grandfather. Now he gets to teach classes in both. There is a poster of Lucy Ball stomping grapes on one door for nostalgia, but all the equipment is modern.

"We have a long-term staff," says Cataldo. They are all experts on beer and wine-making. We offer free consultation to all our customers."

Besides the two products featured in the name of Cataldo’s company, there are supplies and ingredients for cheese making, as well as some other foods.

Customers are given a loyalty card where purchases are marked. When someone reaches a certain dollar amount, they receive a gift certificate to use in the store.
