(FOX 25/MyFoxBoston.com) - Just a few days ago, Boston Mayor Tom Menino went under the knife to have a mole removed from his nose.

The spot is called a Basal Cell Carcinoma.

It's not an uncommon procedure, but just how harmful can it be?

Dr. Chrsalyne Schmults is with the Dana Farber/Brigham and Women's Cancer Center and was here to discuss prevention.
