(FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - On this Valentine's Day, we have to ask ourselves: is love the answer to our problems? Is love what we need to make our lives happier?
And besides flowers, candies and cards, what should we really be taking away from Valentine's Day?
In her book, "The Love Response," Dr. Eva Selhub takes on the issue of what love can mean for all of us.
Here are some of her tips:
1. Ask yourself, "If I loved would I…..?"
2. Honor and value your feelings, ask yourself "How does this make ME feel?" Then value someone else.
3. Appreciate: Say to yourself, "I am so lucky that…"
4. Be a best friend (this includes to yourself)-hugs and compliments always help
5. Give yourself an "I love myself gift"
6. Give someone else an "I love you gift"
7. Reach out-ask for help
8. Perform random acts of kindness
