(FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - The New York police officer responsible for the Easton native's death has been named Officer of the Year.
On Friday, Officer Aaron Hess was given the honor by the Pleasantville Police Union. The union recognized Hess for his actions the night he shot and killed Danroy "DJ" Henry outside a Pace University bar back in October.
Police allege that Henry drove his car into Hess and another officer after refusing to stop. Yesterday, DJ's mother, Angela, said she was disappointed, but not surprised.
The Henry family is now filing a federal lawsuit for wrongful death and violations of various constitutional rights.
Officer Hess is currently under investigation by the Department of Justice.
DJ's uncle, Kevin Murphy, stopped by the FOX 25 Morning News to talk more about the latest announcement. Watch Kim Carrigan's interview for more.
