But a new law has the backing of several popular sites.
The Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act encourages information sharing between government and companies to protect against cyber attacks in the name of Homeland Security.
McAfee consultant and identity theft expert Robert Siciliano says many believe this bill goes too far.
