(FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - There's a new bill being studied and considered on Beacon Hill that would allow for random drug testing of welfare recipients.
Supporters of the bill say it would protect the rights of taxpayers by making sure their money is being spent correctly.
Welfare recipients testing positive could be kicked off the welfare rolls, unless they get help for their addiction.
About 450,000 households receive cash or food stamps from the Department of Transitional Assistance.
Republican State Representative Nicholas Boldyga of Southwick recently joined the FOX 25 Morning News with more on this proposal.
