(FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - In the wake of the Japanese nuclear disaster, officials in Massachusetts are holding hearings to make sure that nuclear facilities in this area are prepared if tragedy would strike. One of the officials set to testify is Attorney General Martha Coakley.

Environmental activists were rallying at the State House yesterday as hearings got under way about nuclear safety.

At issue are the New England nuke plants in Plymouth, Seabrook, N.H., and the Vermont Yankee plant.

The activists are urging lawmakers not to build any more local reactors and stop existing nuclear plants from being re-licensed until more protections are put into place.

Watch Kim's interview with Coakley for more.
