The CA Application Performance Management (APM) engineering team at CA Technologies seeks experienced Senior Technical Writers to work in our Redwood City, CA; South San Francisco, CA; or Framingham, MA offices. (Multiple positions available.)

The APM Technical Information team develops IT administration and end-user documentation for CA APM products that enable enterprise organizations to monitor, analyze and report on web transactions, response times and end-user experience to ensure optimal application delivery and protect revenue. Successful candidates are customer-focused, detail-oriented, and passionate about producing high-quality documentation.

Responsibilities:

• Write and maintain product guides, release notes, and online help.
• Develop documentation plans and estimates. • Gain product knowledge.
• Ensure documentation quality by testing the product, resolving documentation issues, and participating in peer reviews.
• Participate in Agile scrum team meetings, provide status, review feature specifications, and review documentation and product usability.
• Stay current with latest ideas and technologies in technical information and user assistance.
• Follow centralized documentation standards and processes.

Qualifications:

• Five or more years technical writing experience writing for end users, administrators, and implementers.
• A Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
• Some domain experience with project management, large-scale enterprise applications, Java, and web applications.
• Domain knowledge of Java, .NET, and SOA environments is a plus.
• Domain knowledge of web transactions (HTTP, HTML, FLEX) is a plus.
• Solid understanding of basic documentation concepts and principles.
• Experience with role- and topic-based content and single-sourcing.
• Ability to multitask and handle a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a team that includes technical communicators, project managers, product managers, developers, quality assurance engineers, and customer support personnel.
• Experience with Microsoft Office (especially Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint) is required.
• Experience with Adobe Acrobat is required.
• Experience with enterprise authoring software is required (e.g., FrameMaker, XMetaL, DITA).
• Experience with Author-IT or a content management system is a big plus. • Experience with authoring in a SaaS environment is a plus.
• Experience with authoring for a mobile platform is a plus.
• Experience with Microsoft SharePoint is a plus.
• Experience with CA Agile Vision or another agile planning product is a plus.
• Experience with CA Clarity PPM or another project and portfolio management tool is a plus.
• Familiarity with Agile scrum is a plus. • Familiarity with Microsoft Project, Open Workbench (OWB), or another project scheduling and management tool is a plus.
• You must be prepared to supply a writing sample of your work, if requested.
