As a key member of the product and technology team, this role is involved in defining and specifying the functional architecture and design of Client Technologies’ proprietary distribution platform. The team is responsible for understanding both the business and technical domains of rail distribution, and uses that knowledge to design the platform to effectively integrate, aggregate, normalize and standardize rail content from all of the rail carrier systems around the world. The candidate will interact directly with key customers, suppliers and industry leaders, assisting with business development initiatives, gathering requirements, and formulating strategies for building solutions that enable Client Technologies and its customers to improve their positioning in the industry. The Client web service solution is a transactional API that integrates multiple service providers into one common easily consumable API that supports the full life cycle of a booking, from shopping through settlement. 



Responsibilities 


•Work with rail providers to understand their capabilities and technologies and map the rail provider API’s to the Client Platform. 


•The majority of your time will be consumed in the analysis of the business functions, technical capabilities and APIs of Rail Carrier Systems, and mapping those APIs and business functions to the Client platform for integration by the development team. 


•Create comprehensive product documents such as requirements documents, functional specifications including supplier XML to Client platform mappings, use cases, process flows and sequence diagrams.


•Participate in the definition and prioritization of software releases and overall product plan. 


•Work with development and quality assurance teams throughout the development process to ensure the successful implementation of the product.

Skills/ Required Experience and Knowledge 


•At least 5+ years experience in software development and /or technical analysis in a product oriented company as a developer, analyst or product manager 


•Has ridden on a train, preferably a high speed or long distance train 
•Experience writing useable, effective product requirements for API driven middleware applications built in an agile development environment


•Demonstrated understanding of, and experience with, using complex web services, construction of large XML queries, and analyzing/documenting XML Schemas. 


•Excellent interpersonal, analytic and problem solving skills 
•Self-motivated, able to work independently and perform multiple tasks under minimal supervision 


•Demonstrated history of success participating and contributing within a fast-paced, technically aggressive, highly skilled and collegial development team 


•Ability to serve as a liaison between development team and internal and external business teams 


•Familiarity with travel related websites and other e-commerce websites is a plus 


•Must be willing and able to travel domestically and internationally on short notice 


•Familiarity with European cultures and languages – and the ability to speak &/or read and comprehend French, German, Spanish or Italian – is a plus
