In this newly-created position reporting to the CIO, the Director of IT Operations will be responsible for maintaining and improving the operational effectiveness of the department. The Director will own a number of key IT business processes including service level management, incident management, problem management, change management, configuration management, project portfolio/demand management, and resource management. She or he will also be responsible for IT security, management controls, and related aspects of regulatory compliance.

The Director will manage a team of 3 people, and will collaborate closely with colleagues from the IT infrastructure team, the three application teams (2 within IT and one that is part of the Medical organization), and the Computer Systems Quality group.

The Operations group is responsible for defining standards and processes that are followed by other groups within and outside IT. These processes are intended to ensure that IT as a whole can effectively deliver high-quality services and projects to the company in a manner that is efficient, reliable, secure, and compliant with applicable policies and regulations. The Director’s responsibilities will include defining, documenting, propagating, managing and continuously improving those processes and standards. She or he will also be responsible for measuring and reporting on the department’s performance with respect to those processes and standards.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Own and manage existing operational processes and standards as described above.

Work with colleagues to identify opportunities to improve operations through changes to existing processes and/or establishment of new processes; prioritize and organize those opportunities into a roadmap; and lead individual initiatives within the context of that roadmap.

Update existing and establish new performance metrics and lead periodic reviews with department management.

Facilitate audits, inspections, testing and/or reviews of relevant processes and management controls by various internal groups (e.g. Computer Systems Quality Assurance, Takeda internal audit) and external groups (e.g. financial auditors, FDA).

Oversee the completion and roll-out of a security roadmap that captures, prioritizes and sequences current and future initiatives and capabilities within that space.

Manage and develop a team of 3 talented individuals as well as the associated budget.

Along with peers, play a leading role in the overall management and maturation of the It department.

QUALIFICATIONS

Basic requirements:

Experience defining and implementing IT governance standards (i.e. ITIL, COBIT) in a Biopharma or Financial Services industry.

Education:

B.S. in a technical or business discipline is required.

Professional education/training in areas such as IT operations, IT security, general computer controls, project management, business process management, and change management.

Preferred qualifications: Relevant certifications such as PMP, ITIL Practitioner or Service Manager, CISSP.

Minimum of 10 years work experience in Information Technology.
