BOSTON (AP) - Nine new cases of swine flu have been confirmed in Massachusetts, bringing the total to 142.
The state Public Health Department said Friday that none of the newly confirmed cases required hospitalization and all are expected to recover.
Seven of the new cases are in Middlesex County, which has had the most in Massachusetts. The two others are in Norfolk and Suffolk Counties.
The new sufferers ranged in age from 6 to 53.
Nationally, there are now more than 4,700 probable and confirmed cases of swine flu, and 173 hospitalizations with four deaths.
The tally doesn't include a fifth death that Texas officials said Friday was due to swine flu.
