- Warner Brothers is going all-out on its merchandising for the dark superhero epic "Watchmen," with lunchboxes , sweatshirts , coffee and even a Dr. Manhattan-themed condom . So why not a Saturday morning cartoon?
It's unlikely that the R-rated "Watchmen" will ever make it to kids' TV, but if it did it would probably look a lot like animator Harry Partridge's "Saturday Morning Watchmen." Partridge's title sequence to the imaginary cartoon packs multiple references to the original graphic novel into its 1 minute and 20 seconds.
On the video game and animation site Newgrounds , Partridge said the parody "combines two huge passions of mine, one being the comic genius that is Alan Moore and the other being kids' programming from the late '80s, which I would say is my biggest animation inspiration."
