(MYFOX NATIONAL) - Lamar Odom and Khloe Kardashian held a wedding ceremony on Sunday night in Los Angeles, but a report surfaced that the couple is not legally married. Odom spoke to the media and declared that he and Kardashian are married.
TMZ.com reported Tuesday that the couple is not legally married and that the marriage is being held up because of contentious pre-nuptial agreement negotiations between lawyers from both sides. Attorneys began working on negotiations last Friday, two days before the wedding.
The report was countered by representatives of both Kardashian and Odom. RadarOnline.com reported that reps confirmed,"They are legally married." Though lawyers have not commented.
At the Lakers Media Day on Tuesday, Odom insisted that the marriage was legitimate. People.com reported that he told reporters, "It's crazy how perception works in America when you're looking at things from the outside."
The New York Post reported that Odom said, "It was real. Anybody that was there will tell you that it was a beautiful event, and it was real."
The marriage is the first for both Kardashian, 25, and Odom, 29. Odom has two children from a previous relationship. The New York Daily News reported that the couple first met on August 27 at a party for Lakers teammate Ron Artest in Hollywood.
The celebrity couple may be the focus of a new reality TV show. Ryan Seacrest, who has been a producer of E!'s "Keeping up with the Kardashians" and was at the wedding, was asked if he would be interested in a show about the couple. He responded, "I mean, come on, the producer side of me is thinking [it] could be a good reality series," reported The Daily News .
All the celebrity hype surrounding the couple may be good for a TV show and selling magazines, but an ESPN columnist wondered how it will effect Odom's return to the court , as he tries to help the Lakers defend their championship.
