Few Show For Jon Gosselin Appearance

PHILADELPHIA - Jon Gosselin did make a widely promoted public appearance with a Rabbi on Sunday night, but only a handful of people showed up.

Gosselin was scheduled to appear at a New York synagogue with Rabbi Shmuley Boteach to talk about the perils of being a celebrity parent. He arrived 30 minutes late to a sparse crowd.

Radar Online said the hall was only about one-quarter full and admission was waived for the 50 people who showed up.

Before his appearance, Jon Gosselin issued a rambling statement to Entertainment Tonight about former girlfriend Hailey Glassman.

"I have been overly stressed, distraught and angry with everything going on in my life. It has been overwhelming, and at times I have taken it all out on Hailey,” Gosselin said.

“Hailey says she thinks it's a good idea that we both take some time right now and focus on each of our individual lives. “

Rabbi Shmuley, who also had a show on TLC, told the New York Post that he advised Gosselin, 32, to break it off with Glassman.

"I have advised him to end it with Hailey," Shmuley said. "It is unacceptable to be in a relationship when he is still married and has to take care of kids who are hurting. It is not a healthy relationship."

"Jon will either be remembered as a man who cheats on his wife and is intoxicated by fame, or a man who has fought to redeem himself," Shmuley told the Post.

Glassman went to The Insider last week to speak about her relationship with Jon Gosselin and portrayed him as “emotionally abusive.”

Jon Gosselin may also be done with Michael Lohan.

Lohan said late last week he broke off all ties with Gosselin after he reportedly was cut out of some business deals involving Jon Gosselin.

Jon Gosselin also turned down an offer last week to star in a TV show with Nadya Suleman, aka Octomom.

"While Jon appreciates the consideration and the potential revenues that it offers, after reviewing with both the management team and his spiritual advisors Jon has decided it is not in his best interest to pursue a show of this nature.," Gosselin said in a statement.

In a long, rambling statement to E! News, the Wernersville, Pa., reality TV dad said he has pledged to follow the teachings of Rabbi Shmuley, who just released confessional tapes he made of Michael Jackson.

"I am well aware that my behavior over the past few months has not always reflected my personal and religious values,” Gosselin says.

Ironically, Boteach had a television show on TLC, the same network that is suing Jon Gosselin for breach of contract.

Part of Gosselin’s therapy will be reconnecting with estranged wife Kate Gosselin.

"I am committed to making things right with Kate and especially my children. I ask you to please give me the opportunity to prove myself,” told E!
